Last month, with Matthieu we picked Africa as a theme for making images.
This month, we picked China.

I just started thinking about it and trying to come up with some images that would be interesting, and I'm realizing it is as difficult or more than Africa.
Having never been ...there and not speaking nor reading the language, I hope I'm not going to offend anyone with these images.

the more I look for references though, the more I love what I'm finding.
Now I really want to go and visit.

Cette image est a la fois pour finir l'annee et pour faire un lien avec 2010 et un nouveau type de defi pour nous!
en 2010, Matthieu et moi allons choisir un pays, chaque mois, et faire 4 images en rapport avec le lieu choisis!

I found that piece pretty sad actually, although I'm not sure if that was the band's intention. I admit having a hard time with this one!

Still... I thought this was such a GREAT exercise and I can't wait to do it again, and again!

Last week, Pascal sent me a track "Ja sei Namorar" and he suggested me to create a picture inspired by this song. Great new experience on scribiling. I tried to mix this song with my painting and I am happy with this work. I have also send a track to Pascal. I look forward to watching your art Pascal! ^__^

Comme Matthieu l'a dis, le theme de la semaine etait la rencontre de nos enfants.
Je me doutais bien que Matthieu allait faire quelque chose de formidable, donc, j'ai essayer de faire une rencontre differente.
La premiere est par hasard, dans un aeroport...
la deuxieme.. au Lycee.

C'est marrant de les imaginer tous les deux plus tard!

I actually had a harder time than I thought with this one, because I didn't want to just do an expected Halloween scene...but I still think I did.
In any case... here's my version of it.

C'etait un peu plus dur que prevu de faire une image sur ce theme( que j'ai lancer, comme un gros malin!) parceque je ne voulais pas faire quelque chose de "convenu". Mais bon.. je ne m'en suis pas trop eloigner quand meme!

Le theme de cette semaine est " Le resenti"
C'est un theme marrant en fait, parceque aux etats Unis, " to resent' ca veut dire quelque chose qu'on aime pas, et je ne me souviens plus tres bien de ce que ca veut dire en Francais. Il ne me semblait pas que c'etait une mauvaise connatation.
Du coup, j'ai fais une petite recherche sur google, et je suis tomber sur cette definition
" emotion vive".
Ce qui m'a inspire ca.

Tres souvent, on a des petits moments comme ca , avec mon epouse, ou on retombe amoureux l'un de l'autre. C'est ce que j'ai essayer de retranscrire ici!.
Voila.

This week's theme is a french word that , if translated literally in English would mean Resentment. But , in French, it is used to mean" feeling a strong emotion", without necessarily having a bad note to it.

Theme of the week : "A place in the city where we like to be in." According to me, the "Café Bellecour" is the most peaceful place to go in the morning or for the lunch. There are so many paintings on the wall : old watercolor, oil paintings of the city, advertising ... This place often brings me inspiration for my work and I hope that, in 100 years, one of my illustration will be hung on the wall among the others... Have a great day !

This week, we were trying to do something that was not in our comfort zone.
For me. drawing with lines is not a usual thing, neither are close ups. So, I though I'd tried that!

This week's theme is Tuscany!
Matthieu threw that out there because, as usual, we're both busy,( see last week's post you'll understand what happens when I try something cool, on a super duper busy schedule!)and that could be easier.
Still..
the first images of Tuscany that came to my mind were that of the rolling hills, the wineries, and the beautiful landscape....so, I scrapped that and thought a little longer, and remembered how much I loved Siena, Florence and little places like San Gimignano .
I remember those small, dark streets on one side, and the super sunny ones on the others.

I loved Tuscany by the way!

Le theme de la semaine est la Toscane!
Les premieres images de Toscane qui me venaient a l'esprit etaient de collines rondes et bossus, de vignes et de pleins d'autres trucs comme ca....alors je me suis dis.. hmmm..faudrait que je fasse un truc un peu different..et je me suis pencher sur les petites villes de la Bas( qui ressemble d'ailleur, un peu aux vielles villes du sud de la France en passant!)

This is my image based on the colors imposed!
I'm definitely NOT happy with it, i think it could have been a lot better with more time and more thought put into it, BUT, that's also part of this game! Do what we can with all the elements we have, time included!
STill...I'm probably going to redo this one!

je ne suis pas vraiment content de cette image, et je pense qu'elle aurait put etre meilleure, mais bon.
C'est aussi ca le but du jeu ici, faire le mieux qu'on peut avec tous les elements qu'on a!

This week I had to make a picture with restricted colors and a theme given by Pascal. The theme is "Action" and colors are red, orange, blue and dark brown.... Really new experience for me... "Action", this is not one of my favorite subject and I never used such rough colors painting on photoshop... So... this is my answer to your challenge Pascal :) Hope you enjoy! I'm waiting for your answer on my theme with the range of colors I gave you ^^

Cette semaine Pascal m'a donné un thème et des couleurs (rouge, orange, bleu, marron foncé et blanc). Le thème est : "Action". Un exercice assez inhabituel pour moi et donc très intéressant :) Ce n'est pas un sujets que je traite souvent... et les couleurs que Pascal m'a filé ne font pas souvent partie de mes compos... D'où l'intérêt de l'exercice. Voici donc le résultat à ton défi Pascal! :) J'espère que ça te plaira. J'attends ton image avec impatience sur le thème et les couleurs que je t'ai donnés ^^

Thinking about Pascal and his way of life in San Francisco is like thinking about "warm colors" form me. I see many things... except buildings, curiously : island, ocean (Hawaï?), sun, palms, his daughter running by the sea, his amazing colors everyone can admire in his pictures... and all his funny creatures around him. For me, Pascal is drawing, sketching, creating all the time, day and night, night and day. So Pascal, I hope you will enjoy this image. This is a small contribution of one of your enthusiastic fans :)

Lorsque je pense à Pascal et à son boulot à San Francisco, je vois tout d'abord des couleurs. Beaucoup d'autres choses également mais curieusement pas de buildings : une ile, l'océan (Hawaï?), le soleil, les palmiers, sa fille courant sur la plage... et toutes ces créatures dont il a le secret tout autour de lui. Pour moi, Pascal dessine, crayonne, imagine jour et nuit... Ca me fascine, et me motive. J'espère que tu aimeras cette image Pascal. C'est la petite contribution de l'un de tes nombreux fans :)

Cette semaine, comme on est tous les deux a la bourre, on a decider de ne pas faire un truc plus simple...un portrait de l'autre!
Ca, c'est ma vision de Matthieu et de son art. C'est peut etre un peu trop rapide, et je crois que j'ai trop pris le style de Matthieu, mais bon....

This week, Matthieu and I are really busy, so we decided to do something simpler than what we had originally planned. A portrait of the other... I do one of him, and he does one of me.
Here's the one I did for him, and, as I am posting it, i'm realizing it's actually almost a mimic of his images.Interesting.
Anyhow...

You're right Pascal! Quite hard to create a new pic from the original I did after your piece but a really good experience and amazing results. Don't know if we will do 04 but I think we could have an interesting and happy cross over between "Red Rain" and "In the crow". Don't you? ^^

Tu as raison Pascal. Ce n'est vraiment pas évident de continuer l'image que l'on avait créée initialement après que l'autre est ajouté sa touche. Mais l'expérience est très enrichissante et les résultats vraiment surprenants à chaque fois. Je ne sais pas si nous allons créer une nouvelle suite à cette troisième édition mais je pense que nous pourrions travailler sur un petit cross over entre les illus "Red rain" et "In the crowd". Qu'en pensez-vous?

Following up on the follow up to my image is actually harder than it seems for a lot of different reasons. I think the results are interesting, more than GREAT, but it's teaching me a lot !

Continuer une image qui en continue une autre que j'ai faite est beaucoup plus dure que ce que je ne le pensais, pour pleins de raisons, et pas forcemment celles auxquelles j'avais pense au depart.
Mais bon, je trouve que le resultat est assez interessant pour le moment, pas forcemment super( je parle pour moi, evidemment, Matthieu assure a fond lui!), mais c'est vraiment tres tres instructif!
